Overview
The Atelier of Luddite is a speculative brand and exhibition project that reinterprets Neo-Luddism, exploring how human sensibility and creative agency can coexist with emerging technology.
01 QUESTION
What should remain human in an age of intelligent machines?
AI and automation are expanding the speed and possibilities of creation. At the same time, they raise questions about the value of human judgment, sensibility, and skills developed through practice. The Atelier of Luddite moves beyond the choice between accepting and rejecting technology, exploring how we can embrace new tools without surrendering our creative agency.
02 REFRAMING LUDDISM
Beyond the image of machine breakers.
Luddites are often remembered as people who rejected technological progress and destroyed machines. This project revisits the movement through another lens: the value of skilled labor and the relationship between people and their tools. It reinterprets that perspective for contemporary creative practice—not as hostility toward technology, but as a commitment to remaining independent of it.
03 PHILOSOPHY
HIGH TECH. HIGH TOUCH.
Technology expands what we can create. Human sensibility gives it direction.
The Atelier of Luddite does not reject new technology. It embraces tools while insisting that people remain responsible for deciding what to create and why.As technology becomes more sophisticated, the goal is not to compete with machines, but to cultivate a distinctive perspective and use technology with intention.
04 MANIFESTO
The hand remembers what tools cannot.
The manifesto establishes a creative philosophy rooted in human skill and sensibility. The hand is not simply a means of production; it is a way of sensing materials, making judgments, and developing ideas.Through every thread, line, and form, the brand celebrates the experiences and knowledge that continue to shape human creativity.
05 VISUAL IDENTITY
A visual language shaped by human touch.
Rooted in the textile origins of Luddism, the identity draws from thread, weaving, lace, and embroidery.Intricate stitches and interwoven structures represent time, practice, and human skill. These elements extend across typography, graphics, and motion to express the coexistence of technology and human touch.
06 SPATIAL EXPERIENCE
Tracing the relationship between hands and tools.
The exhibition translates the brand philosophy into a spatial narrative. Beginning with textile history, visitors explore the evolving relationship between human skill and tools, leading toward contemporary creative practice.Thread and woven structures become spatial elements that connect the history of making with the future of human creativity.
